Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming – there are plenty of simple things you can do to show yourself some love.

I’m currently working from home so I’m finding it difficult to find good quality time alone, especially when my kids aren’t around anymore. It seems as though everyone is rushing around at work and it just doesn’t feel like a real break in my schedule, but I’m not going to let that stop me from taking care of myself.

Here are five easy ways to take care of yourself:

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

This might seem obvious at first, but sleep really does have a big impact on your overall health and well-being. Getting adequate rest each night allows you to wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle day. You’ll be able to perform better at your job, be more productive, and enjoy better relationships. Not only will having a little extra sleep help clear your mind, but it’ll also help ward off colds and flu and make you less prone to snoring and coughing at night.

Sometimes it's easier said than done. Here are a few easy ways to make sure you're getting the shut-eye you need:

  • Make sleep a priority. Just like eating healthy and exercising, getting enough sleep should be at the top of your list when it comes to taking care of yourself.
  • Establish a bedtime routine. A consistent bedtime routine can help signal to your body that it's time to wind down and get ready for sleep.
  • Create a calming environment in your bedroom. Taking steps to make your bedroom a relaxing haven can help promote better sleep, such as investing in comfortable bedding, using soothing scents, and keeping the space dark and quiet.
  • Avoid screens before bedtime. The light from screens can interfere with your body's natural sleep rhythm, so it's best to avoid them in the hours leading up to bedtime.

EAT HEALTHY

When it comes to taking care of yourself, one of the most important things you can do is eat healthy foods. Eating a healthy diet helps your body to get the nutrients it needs to function properly and can help to prevent various health problems. There are a variety of healthy foods that you can include in your diet, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats.

After all, don’t forget to eat; it’s one of the most important things you can do for your body. The more you get your nutrients, the more energy you’ll have, and the more likely you’ll be to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Eating an array of fresh fruits and vegetables each day will not only nourish your physical body, but it will keep you feeling full longer. Additionally, fresh meat and fish provide Omega-3 fatty acids which helps lower cholesterol levels, boost blood circulation, fight inflammation and help manage weight.

WORK OUT

When you spend time exercising it’ll give you a sense of accomplishment, an energized state, and an increased level of confidence. Your body will thank you for those benefits! Many of today’s modern fitness trends encourage active lifestyles, including cycling, swimming, running, dancing and yoga. In addition, try to keep yourself busy by making yourself a morning workout routine! If you’re looking to lose weight, go for shorter workouts that fit your current shape. There are many different exercises out there. Some examples include planks, squats, pushups, crunches, jumping jacks and step aerobics. Try these fun activities with friends, family members or online classes.

MAKE SOME TIME FOR RELATION

We all know how important it is to take care of ourselves, but sometimes we need a reminder to do so. Our bodies and minds are constantly working, and it can be easy to forget to give them the break they deserve.

If you want to prevent stress, then you need to learn how to relax. Taking regular breaks throughout the day will allow you time to unwind from the stresses and stresses of their day. For example, at dinner, try taking 10 minutes to watch TV before you eat. Then, go outside for 20 minutes of nature walks. A deep breathing technique called “breathing techniques” will help soothe nervous tension inside of your body. Afterward, you can eat something relaxing and calming (and delicious!) before returning to watching TV. During the late hours of the evening, meditate for a few minutes and listen to music. Whatever way you choose to relax will benefit your productivity, focus and happiness in general.

CONNECT WITH LOVE ONES

One thing that has always worked well with me is spending time with my loved ones. These are the people who mean the absolute world to you, and they deserve to be taken care of. However, sometimes things get hectic and busy and we can’t find the time to see them. Maybe you’ve got an emergency meeting scheduled for later or need to run some errands, or maybe you just want to check up on old friends. Regardless of whatever reason it is, being available for an hour or two a week will give your loved ones at least a chance to catch up. Don’t worry about what others think of you, and stick to your own personal boundaries. Everyone deserves to call you back, even if you had plans to hang out, but if we all did that, the planet would be empty.
